A Little Deer

A few months back I was doing a little doodling, and sketched a little deer...

... I love the vintage style 'Bambi' deers with over sized heads...

... so had to make myself one!!!

I think she is rather cute... she has the 'ahhh' factor, and is perfect for little hands to hold.  I love the way she looks in vintage fabric, and feel it is in keeping with the era of the style.  

This is a sneak preview of things to come, I will be creating some of these to sell!  They will all be made using vintage fabrics, and will therefore be a limited number of each, so keep your eyes open for the ones you like!

Although she doesn't really have a name, when I glimpse her in my room 'Dilly' springs to mind.   So what do you think then?  Should I stick with Dilly or do you have any other suggestions?

New Baby Playmat

This is my latest quilt.  I have used the lovely tufted cotton fabric again as I love the texture it creates.  I love making these.  I always thought hand stitching too slow, but I have begun to enjoy it and its therapeutic effects, and I love the effect the circular stitching has on quilts.  You just could not do it with my machine, it would be a constant battle and I would end up with an unsightly splodge effect. 

I listed this quilt on my Etsy shop yesterday evening and have received a message to inform me that on the same day it was listed, it was chosen for PolyAndClayed's treasury which you can see here.

My youngest niece also loved it.  I had made it for the arrival of the new baby, and took it over last weekend when we went to visit.  It went down a storm with her and she claimed it as her dancing mat!  Not sure that this is a good idea considering it is for baby to lie on.  I guess he is going to have to become accustomed to being trampled on.  It's a good job she's a little diddly dot!!!

At the end of last week I had a note put through the door telling me that I had missed a parcel.  I knew what it was and have been itching to go and pick it up.  Today I finally got that opportunity.  This fabulous collection was bought from Seamstar who have a fantastic array of fabrics.  I am looking forward to putting them to good use.

And here is a snap of the my first ever quilt being put through it's paces.  It's owners mummy loves it, and I hope that it will become one of those blankets that gets dragged around by its owner!!!
