I love post like this!

At the end of last week I had a note put through the door telling me that I had missed a parcel.  I knew what it was and have been itching to go and pick it up.  Today I finally got that opportunity.  This fabulous collection was bought from Seamstar who have a fantastic array of fabrics.  I am looking forward to putting them to good use.

And here is a snap of the my first ever quilt being put through it's paces.  It's owners mummy loves it, and I hope that it will become one of those blankets that gets dragged around by its owner!!!

Fabulous florals

Earlier in the week the sun was shining so I thought I would pop on my wellies and take 'Bob' my mannequin out into the garden for a bit of a photo shoot.  Wellies were definitely needed, although the grass wasn't too damp, the lawn is covered in soggy plums that I haven't managed to collect from our three plum trees.  Yughhh.  Luckily it was a bit too chilly for the dreaded wasps!

I am very aware that my photos simply don't show my items in the way they deserve, so I was hoping they would look better if taken outside.  Here are my new pinnies that have just gone up for sale in my Folksy shop.  If you click on the images it will take you to the shop listing and more images.

I love this fabric.  There are two in this design.  I have kept one.  I thought I deserved one as I was still wearing the original Pukka Pinny which is made from a 1960's, maybe 70's, bed sheet (one of the mad purple pattern ones!!)

I also love this fabric.  This is a one off...

... and so is this.

So what do you think to the images?  Is it worth dragging poor 'Bob' out into the cold?  Maybe I just need to take the plunge, conquer my shyness and get snaps of me in them... hmmm, not convinced but I think I need to do something.

Do you like this?  It is fabulous, and I have just finished pinnies made out of it.  One of the things I love about my pinnies is that you really can be outrageous in your choice of fabric.  I don't think I could wear a dress made out of this, as it really would draw attention, but what a fantastic pinny.  More pics to come.

Have a good week next week.

A lovely message for me

The winner of my cosmetic bag giveaway loved her bag.  She chose the one pictured.  This is the message she left:

Hi all,

I just wanted to make a public thank you to Leona at FOXY-S/PUKKA PINNIES. As you may or may not know she did a competition on her blog and I was lucky enough to be the winner. I received my prize in the post yesterday which was a gorgeous handmade cosmetic bag.

I just have to have that it is beautiful and wonderfully made so if you are after this sort of thing, this is the way to go. It was very prettily (probably not a word but all the same) packaged too and looked really special.

So Leona, thank you so much and I will be telling all my friends about your wonderful talent.

Kerry

How lovely, thanks Kerry I am pleased you like it.  I have more available online, and will be putting some more up over the next few weeks if anyone is looking for lovely handmade gifts!!

Hoorah, I'm back!!!

Hello everyone hope you are well.  It is good to be back!

I cannot believe how strange it has been not having my laptop.  I have felt like I have had a limb missing... okay, I know that is quite extreme, but I really can't believe how much I have missed it!!  It is however quite sad starting it up and not having any work at all on it.  I am now going to be very busy reworking my images, recreating my labels and trying to claw back some of the photos that I have lost that have been sent to families and friends.

I am however looking forward to catching up with everyone else's work.  I think I will have to limit myself as I have so much to do.

I have been reasonably busy over the past few weeks.  Not only have I been back at work, but I have also had a few projects I have been working on.  I have also made a number of pinnies but you're not going to get to see them as I have no images and they sold more or less as soon as they had been made.  This weekend I had a stall at a local garden opening which was a pleasure.  I managed to sell a reasonable amount and met some lovely people.  One lady in particular was a gem, she had so many positive things to say about my work (I was beaming!!) and letting me know some good outlets for fabric, telling me that she would keep me informed if she finds anywhere else.  All good.

Learning the hard way!

I am feeling sad.  Last week my computer gave up on me, which is why I have been out of touch.  Today I have learnt that my hard drive has had it and that none of my files can be retrieved.  All my photos, all my work... gone!!!  Yes, I have my sketch books which is something, but the amount of time spent fiddling with them on my computer before using them is gone. I can't believe that I didn't have any of it backed up (stupid!), it was simply something I hadn't got around to doing (stupid, stupid, stupid!!!), but is something I won't leave for another day ever again.

For those of you, like me, that don't have your work or photos backed up you need to do it as soon as possible.  It really is very sad when you loose them.

I will be asking for my old hard drive back once it has been replaced to see if anyone else can do anything, but to be honest I don't have high hopes.  Maybe it will kick me into a new creative phase, I certainly hope that some good will come from it.

Time to go and focus on something positive and get making.  Hopefully I will be back with you very soon.

Oh, for those of you wondering I managed to track down the winner of my July giveaway and she should be receiving her lovely bag before weekend.  She chose the lovely yellow spot one that I used on my last post.

Enjoy the rest of your week. x
